Vintage inspired wedding at Frick and Museum Lab in Pittsburgh

Katie and Jake’s story began at the University of Pittsburgh, where they met as students and quickly became inseparable. Between parties, Pitt football games and even study sessions their relationship grew as they experienced college together. I saw how tightly they held their other relationships from that time, too. Their massive friend group flooded them with so much love that day.

Katie and Jake planned a wedding that was vintage inspired, nature inspired and welcoming. Their ceremony at the Frick Environmental Center pulled all the decor it needed from the landscape. The space felt private but also connected to the nature surrounding it. Since Katie & Jake love to hike and be outdoors, I know finding a space like the Frick Environmental Center was important to them. Their ceremony was beautiful and was infused with softness from all the sights and sounds of Frick. I could not help but shoot loads of film here.

Museum Lab is one of the best wedding venues in Pittsburgh and is in my personal top 5. For couples who met in Pittsburgh, or who want to celebrate the city’s history, Museum Lab feels symbolic. It’s in the beautifully restored Carnegie Library of Allegheny, and during restorations they kept the dramatic arches, exposed brick, and gallery-like spaces that feel purposeful and elegant. Everything has such a lovely flow.

What made Katie and Jake’s wedding feel so special were their private walks in the forest, the warmed-hearted toasts, the care they showed to everyone, even us vendors, and the hell of a dance party.

So much love and gratitude for every couple that comes into my life. These two have a special place!
